“I started carving because of my dad.”

My Dad came to my brother and I

with a class intro to carving that he wanted to try out. It only took a few swipes of the knife before I was hooked. From there, I built my collections of carving knives and chisels. Then I learned about wood types, wood wax, and sandpaper. I even dabbled in power tools for a bit but it just feels better to do it all by hand.

While I have carved other things,

Comfort Birds are my favorite thing to do.

Not only is it calming for me to do after a long day

As someone who works in a non-profit, I have been able to provide some of these birds to people with severe anxiety and mental health issues in the community and I was able to see the value of them firsthand. Knowing that they are a support to others means the world to me. As someone with anxiety myself, having something to hold onto when everything feels like it is slipping away makes it easier to breathe…
